
WKF KARATE TECHNICAL DIRECTOR
Kyoshi John Therien, president of World Kobudo Federation is pleased to inform you that Dr. Hokama Testuhiro has been appointed WKF's Karate Technical Director for the next 2 year term.
Dr. Hokama Testuhiro (born 1944 Taiwan) started Shuri type karate and village Kobudo in 1952 under the tutelage of his grandfather Tokuyama Seiken. In 1961 he became a student of Higa Seiko sensei, Higa was a student of Higannona Kanryo and Miyagi Chojun and was the only individual awarded Shihan grade by Miyagi. In mid 1960's Hokama became a student of Matayoshi Shinpou in Okinawa Kobudo.
Today Hokama sensei holds the grade of 10th dan hanshi. IONA University of Okinawa and the University of Mindanao in Philippines awarded Hokama with PHD's for his work in promotion and preservation of Okinawan Martial and Fine arts. Hokama sensei is also one of the most sought after master colligraphers in the world and is the curator of the only Karate museum in the world.
